The thinking human
How do we protect critical thinking, attention, judgment, creativity and our ability to think independently when machines can increasingly think with us — or for us?
An open project · Currently listening
Technology is becoming more intelligent. Our challenge is becoming more human.
Artificial intelligence is beginning to reshape how we work, learn, create, communicate and make decisions.
It brings extraordinary possibilities. But it also raises deeply human questions.
This project exists to explore those questions — and to build practical answers together.
Our mission
Our mission is to help people grow cognitively, emotionally, relationally, practically and spiritually as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly capable.
We want people to remain:
Confident. Capable. Connected. Purposeful. Deeply human.
This is not a project against technology. We believe AI can improve human life enormously.
But technological capability alone should not determine what we automate, delegate or surrender. Technology should serve humanity — not the other way around.
What “becoming more human” means
Our work is organized around four interconnected dimensions.
The thinking human
How do we protect critical thinking, attention, judgment, creativity and our ability to think independently when machines can increasingly think with us — or for us?
The inner human
How do we cultivate purpose, identity, meaning, hope, resilience, acceptance, forgiveness and presence in a rapidly changing world?
The connected human
How do we strengthen friendship, family, community, conversation, mentoring, belonging and real human experiences together?
The acting human
How do we remain capable, active and creative — learning skills, making things, moving our bodies, contributing, serving others and taking responsibility for our lives?
AI is the context.
Humanity is the subject.
Why this exists
AI is developing rapidly. But human beings need time to adapt psychologically, socially, culturally and practically.
That creates what we call the Human Adaptation Gap.
The answer is not fear. And it is not pretending that everything will automatically be fine.
We believe in active optimism: understanding what is changing, being honest about uncertainty, strengthening ourselves and taking constructive action.
We don't want to predict exactly what the future will look like. We want to help people become better prepared to navigate it.
A living project
And we don't want to pretend that we do.
Becoming More Human in the Age of AI is being built in the open. We are bringing together research, expert thinking, lived experience, community conversations and practical experimentation to understand what people actually need.
Some of the work exists already. Much of it still needs to be created. And that's intentional.
If you join now, you're not arriving at a finished service. You're arriving early enough to help shape it.
How you can contribute
You don't need to be an AI expert. You might be a teacher, parent, psychologist, student, entrepreneur, engineer, artist, retiree, community organizer — or simply someone thinking seriously about what all of this means.
Everyone has something to teach.
Everyone has something to learn.
The journey
The long-term vision
A global, human-centered community helping one another navigate technological change with greater wisdom, purpose, courage and hope.
Join the journey
This project should not be built for people without listening to people. So we'd like to start with you.
Our purpose is not to predict the future. It is to help people navigate it with wisdom, purpose, courage and hope.
